Song submission window opens for DMGP 2026

Following the announcement of their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, Danish Broadcaster DR has opened the song submission for DMGP 2026.

Next year, Denmark’s biggest music competition, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026, will move to an earlier schedule on Valentine’s Day. The one-off final with eight performers will take place at the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn. More details of the format and ticket information will be shared in September. The winner of DMGP 2026 will represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 taking place in Austria next May.

Until November 2 artists and songwriters can submit their entries to the broadcaster. After which, industry professionals will review the submissions that will progress to the live show on February 14. The rules for submissions are as follows:

  • All submissions must include both an audio file and video file of the intended act for the song.
  • At least one performer or songwriter must either be a Danish citizen, resident or have a strong connection to the country, such as marriage.
  • Citizens of the Faroe Islands and Greenland are welcome to participate.
  • All submissions must abide by the three minute rule and be original works.
  • All submissions must not be commercially available or performed publicly – DR’s discretion will be enforced if an entry is released early.
  • Artists and songwriters may submit multiple songs.
  • DR will encourage Danish music professionals to submit songs.
