San Marino confirm participation in Eurovision 2026

The national broadcaster of San Marino (SMRTV) has confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Once again the broadcaster is opting for a national selection to choose their representative for Vienna next May. The San Marino Song Contest 2026 will undergo changes for its latest edition.

Next year SMRTV will continue its Eurovision journey for the 70th anniversary of the contest. To celebrate, the broadcaster alongside Media Evolution and the Ministry of Tourism and Information have announced a committment to hold the San Marino Song Contest national selection until at least 2028.

As well as this news, a number of format changes for the national final have been confirmed. To streamline the process, there will only be three shows for the San Marino Song Contest 2026. This will be two Semi-Finals and one Grand Final. In order to replicate the current Eurovision live show format. Other changes behind the scenes include the replacement of the Head of Delegation. Media Evolution’s CEO, Denny Montesi will now oversee San Marino’s Eurovision participation. Denny replaces Alessandro Capicchioni who was the Head of Delegation since 2008. Elsewhere San Marino’s four-time representative, Valentina Monetta will act as the Ambassador for San Marino in a support role.
