Monroe’s entry “Regarde !” is out

Earlier this week, French newspaper Le Parisien revealed that 17-year-old lyrical singer Monroe would represent France at Eurovision 2026 in May. French broadcaster France Télévision confirmed the information earlier today on their socials, and have released her entry “Regarde” at 6pm CET.

Although the choice of Monroe had been revealed by the French press earlier today, France Télévisions only confirmed the name of the French artist at noon (CET) today. Six hours later, the entry “Regarde” (“Look!”) has finally been released.

As expected, the entry mixes modern and operatic sounds, with an intense, epic background of violins and chorus voices. The song may remind fans of the last two winners, Nemo and JJ, who also used operatic singing, but may also have hints of the soundtrack of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the recent French video game phenomenon.

The entry was written by the duo “Violin Phonix” (Maxime Morise Christopher Cohen) alongside Fred Savio and Freddie Marche.

Born from an American father and a French mother, Monroe grew up in Utah and started to sing in her local church choir. Last year, she took part in the singing section of the 11th season of “Prodiges”, a talent show broadcast by France Télévisions over the Christmas holidays, showcasing young dancers, musicians and singers aged 7 to 16, described as “prodigies” of music. She won the show’s final in January 2025 and has recently released her first album, Monroe, with covers of famous classic tracks.

It’s an immense honour to represent France, and a responsability which I welcome with pride and determination. This contest has been with me since my childhood, and now that I am 17, I am fully conscious of the trust put in me and I’m going there carrying the colours of France, a country that shapes and inspires me.
With my song “Regarde !”, I want to spread the richness and diversity of our French music. I want to offer Europe an intense, sincere performance carried by a universal message: love is what brings us together.

Monroe about her entry

Eurovision will mean a change of plans for her, as she was due to start a tour of churches and cathedral in April, with some dates planned over Eurovision rehearsals.
