During the recent Head of Delegation meeting, Austria the host nation of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 randomly drew their running order position for the Grand Final in Vienna this May.
🇦🇹 Cosmó will close the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 Grand Final
One of the perks of being the host nation of the Eurovision Song Contest is the guarantee of already being pre-qualified into the Grand Final. However, the annual Head of Delegations meeting that occurs following the selection of all the competing entries, offers another unique advantage for the hosts. During this meeting, the host nation gets to randomly choose what number in the Grand Final running order they will perform in. Whereas the acts that qualify through the Semi-Finals only get to choose from, ‘First Half’, ‘Second Half’ and ‘Producer’s Choice’.
In this years’ annual meeting, Austria randomly chose the position of 25th place in the Eurovision 2026 Grand Final for Cosmó and ‘Tanzscheine’. Back in 2023, the UK’s Mae Muller had the honour of performing in the same slot for the host nation.
