XTRA REHEARSALS — 🇧🇪 A song of ice and fire for Belgium

Eurovision is back! Delegations have landed/arrived in Vienna these last few days and rehearsals started last Saturday. Just like last year, for the first rehearsal, the EBU releases information on the day of each reharsal, with a sets of three photographs publishe the day after. As such, today, we cover yesterday’s rehearsals, from the second half of the first semi-final (automatic qualifiers excluded). #11 in the show is Belgium with “Dancing on the Ice”

The following pictures have been published by the official Eurovision accounts.

What happened on stage?

This description is sourced from indications given by the official Eurovision Reddit account.

  • Essyla wears a white dress, with a high boot on her right leg and shoulder pads, with sharp crystals spiking out of them, in an “Ice Queen” sort of look.
    • At the beginning, she also wears a long of transparent fabric floating behind her, as can be seen in the second picture
  • The performance starts with Essyla singing in front of a wind machine and under fake snow. She then struts off to join her four male dancers, who detaches the cape to let her move more freely
  • The choreography sees Essyla dancing along with her crew, with the LED floor showing tiny crystals under her feet
  • The atmosphere and LEDs will also show a battle between fire and ice, in keeping with the general theme of the song

Here’s the small message Essyla had for the Eurovision fans after her rehearsal:

Stay tuned for further coverage tomorrow, with the rehearsals of today, and for our live coverage on the ground starting on May 9, which will include (among other things) the full dress rehearsals and the live shows, live from Vienna!
