Switzerland confirms participation in Eurovision 2027

Swiss national broadcaster SRG-SSR has confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 taking place in Bulgaria next May. Furthermore, the broadcaster has revealed details of its upcoming internal selection plans.

Switzerland have begun their search for the act who represent them in Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 next May. The song submission window opens August 20 10am (CEST) and September 7 closes at 23:00 (CEST). All interested artists and songwriters may submit up to five entries.

This year will see new adaptions to the internal selection process. An international and national panel of experts will work in tandem with a Eurovision fan jury to review the submitted entries. In line with the current EBU jury structure, this phase of the internal selection will consist of younger panelists. In addition, the process will be supported by AI.

“Our goal remains unchanged. We want to find songs and artists that convince internationally and at the same time fit authentically with Switzerland. To this end, we are continuously developing our processes – based on our experience, with new ideas and modern instruments.”

Yves Schifferle, (Switzerland HoD)

SRG SSR will be holding two songwriting camps. One will primarily focus on the upcoming Eurovision in Bulgaria next year. Meanwhile the second camp will be an opportunity for local and international talent to focus on international music markets.

Since introducing this format of internal selection, Switzerland has achieved six consecutive qualifications from 2019 to 2025, including three top 5 results. Of course, this culminated with victory in Malmö for the captivating performance by Nemo and their winning entry, ‘The Code’. Earning Switzerland their third victory in total and first win since 1988.
