RTVE receives 900 submissions for Benidorm Fest 2027

RTVE, the Spanish national broadcaster and organisers of the annual music festival Benidorm Fest 2027 have confirmed a total of almost 900 entries have been submitted.

According to the Spanish national broadcaster RTVE, a total of nearly 900 songs have been submitted for the upcoming Benidorm Fest 20276. Further information shows that 350 of these submissions were received in the 24-hour window before applications closed. This shows a similar retention to the numbers the broadcaster received for the 2026 edition of the music festival.

Now the selection committee will assess the entries and select 16 proposals for the national final. Should the quality be of a high enough standard, this number could expand to 20. Meanwhile, the broadcaster holds the right to invite prominent artists to participate in the festival.

As yet it is unclear if RTVE will return to the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 taking place in Bulgaria next May. Last year, the Spanish broadcaster withdrew from the contest in the aftermath of the EBU General Assembly. Tensions surrounding Israel’s continued participation were a contributing factor. However, the broadcaster chose to still go ahead with Benidorm Fest 2026 as a stand-alone festival offering a music contract and monetary prize instead of a Eurovision ticket. The winners were, Tony Grox and Lucycalys with ‘T amaré’.
