Next May, Bulgaria will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 for the first time. In preparation for this milestone event for the Balkan nation, the national government has provided 20 million Euros of funding.
🇧🇬 Bulgarian government provides Burgas with 20 million Euros
Next May the Bulgarian city of Burgas will take on the responsibility of hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. In order to prepare for the event, the national government has allocated €20 million in funding. Recently the Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov and the Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov held discussions regarding Eurovision 2027.
Following the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister confirmed the €20 million will be allocated in two parts. An initial €15 million deposit, with the remaining €5 million to be used to facilitate the immediate operational needs of hosting the contest. The funding will be used for a variety of aspects, such as security, transport, accommodation, infrastructure and tourist promotion.
Further funding will be allocated over the coming months from Bulgaria’s 2027 State Budget and through partner sponsorships.
“We in the government see Eurovision as an opportunity to brand Bulgaria, because we have everything to offer – the full range of tourism services. We offer delicious food, mountains, ski resorts, the sea and cultural and historical tourism, but we are still not as recognisable in the tourism market as Italy and Greece.
Burgas won with its strong motivation and proactive approach, which we were able to see during our discussions. Thanks to the team’s operational work, we have a chance to meet the deadlines for the public procurement procedures. We have a very exciting season ahead of us.”
