The national Swedish broadcaster SVT has confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 taking place in Burgas, Bulgaria next May. Once again, Melodifestivalen 2027 will retain responsibility for selecting the act to fly the Swedish flag.

Recently, SVT confirmed that it will send a representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria next May. Additionally, the Swedish broadcaster announced the launch of the application process for Melodifestivalen 2027.

The published regulations confirm the upcoming edition of Melodifestivalen will retain a similar structure to last years’ competition. It will consist of five Heats and a twelve-song Grand Final. The song submission window is open from August 21 to September 9. Following the closure of submission window, a panel of industry experts will assess the proposals and select 30 acts. Late in 2026 a public press conference will showcase the 30 competing acts alongside their composers.

Meanwhile, SVT has announced the departure of Melodifestivalen Project Manager, Anders Wistbacka after five years. Taking over the role will be Hans Abrahamsson who brings experience from working on other productions for SVT since 2024.
