Rai the national broadcaster of Italy and host of the annual Festival di Sanremo have confirmed the rules for Sanremo 2026 as the date for the ‘Eurovision Night’ is confirmed.
🇮🇹 Sanremo 2027 rules confirmed
Recently, Rai confirmed the rules for the upcoming edition of Festival di Sanremo. In doing so, Rai have also revealed the dates and format for each evening as a new ‘Eurovision Night‘ to select the Italian Eurovision representative independently of the main festival, is announced.
23 acts will be selected to compete in the main Campioni contest of Sanremo 2026. The winner of Sanremo Giovani 2026 will also advance for a total of 24 acts on the Ariston Theatre stage.
Sanremo 2027 format and schedule
Next year Sanremo will return to its early February time slot from February 16-20. The structure of the festival is as follows:
- Night 1 – February 16 – All 24 acts perform – press jury and televoting.
- Night 2 – February 17 – All 24 acts perform – radio jury and televoting.
- Night 3 – February 18 – ‘Covers Night’ – All 24 acts perform with a special guest of their choosing. This night is just for fun and does not count to the overall score.
- Night 4 – February 19 – ‘Eurovision Night’ – 24 acts perform updated versions of their songs – international jury and televoting. The winner will represent Italy at Eurovision 2027. The results do not count towards Sanremo 2027.
- Night 5 – February 20 – ‘Grand Final’ – All 24 acts perform. The final voting consists of 33% radio jury, 33% press jury and 34% televoting. This forms a combined average with nights 1 and 2 to create a ranking table of the acts. Only the lower rankings will be shown. The top 3 to 5 will progress to a teleovting super-final that will be combined with their previous scores to determine the overall winner of Sanremo 2027.
