A few days ago, Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR announced that Iolanda, from Portugal, will perform as a guest act during Eurovision 2025 in Basel. Although it has not been confirmed yet, she will likely perform in the second semi-final.
One of many guest act
The announcement came after many others, including the presence of Destiny (Malta 2020/2021), Efendi (Azerbaijan 2020/2021), The Roop (Lithuania 2020/2021) and Gjon’s Tears (Switzerland 2020/2021).
Although Gjon’s Tears has been confirmed as a guest act for the first semi-final (and has recently teased an appearance in the final), which will be themed around Switzerland’s history with Eurovision, it has been confirmed by The Roop that they will perform in the second semi-final. It is very likely the same case for Destiny and Efendi, which pointed at a potential tribute acts for the songs of the cancelled 2020 contest. The Roop confirmed that they will perform “On Fire”, and Destiny heavily implied she would sing “All Of My Love”.
The second semi-final is themed around “Eurovision fans” and artists, and the final, around “Eurovision winners”. Iolanda being neither a winner nor a Swiss representative, she will likely perform in the second semi-final, either along the previously named 2020 singers, or as part of another introduction or interval act. Marina Satti (Greece 2024) and Jerry Heil (Ukraine 2024) were also announced as guest acts and we expect the same logic to apply.
A top 10 finish in Malmö
Iolanda took part in the contest last year for Portugal, and finished 10th in total, with a 7th place in the rankings of the jury.
