Vienna declares interest in hosting Eurovision 2026

After JJ’s victory in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, numerous Austrian cities are declaring their interest to be the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. First to consider a bid is the Austrian city of Vienna hoping to offer their location as the home of Austria 2026.

Vienna for Eurovision 2026?

Although we have not been to a capital city since Lisbon 2018, Vienna are hoping it’s third time lucky. Previously the Austrian capital hosted Eurovision 1967 and Eurovision 2015. Now they have declared interest in hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 taking place in Austria following JJ’s victory with, ‘Wasted Love’. In the aftermath, ORF confirmed the bidding process will commence in the coming days. The focus will be on venue suitability, proximity of the nearest airport and infrastructure.

“a great moment for our country – and a wonderful opportunity for Vienna. Vienna is ready to be Europe’s stage again this time.”

Michael Ludwig, (Mayor of Vienna)

The city of Vienna is the most populous in Austria with 2 million residents. The main arena is the 16,000 capacity Wiener Stadthalle concert hall.
