Following the 95th EBU General Assembly, Poland’s national broadcaster TVP has confirmed its commitment to participate in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria next May.
🇵🇱 Poland WILL participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026
Today is the deadline for the broadcasters to confirm their Eurovision Song Contest 2026 participation without incurring a financial penalty. Therefore, TVP has made its decision and the Polish broadcaster will participate next May in Vienna, Austria.
During the General Assembly all EBU members were invited to vote on the recently announced rule changes proposed by the EBU. These included the return of juries to the Semi-Finals, a reduction in the number of votes from 20 to 10 and strong safeguards to the voting procedures and abilities of governments to campaign for entries. The new rules passed the vote with 738 votes in favour of the new measures, 264 against and 120 abstentions.
This news comes following the shock withdrawals of Ireland, Netherlands, Spain and Slovenia.
As the aftermath of the recent EBU General Assembly continues, TVP releases its statement affirming its belief that music can be uniting force, while also acknowledging the tensions that still linger.
“We are aware of the scale of tensions that surround the next edition. We understand the emotions and concerns. However, we believe that Eurovision still has a chance to become a space that music fills again. And only music. We, like the overwhelming majority of EBU members, are giving this opportunity.”
