Eurovision is here! Delegations are now in Vienna and every semi-finalist has rehearsed once since Saturday. Today was the second day of second rehearsals, with most of the first semi-finalists rehearsing during shorter slots of 20m. The Eurovision socials accounts have been publishing the traditional second rehearsal videos, which are short extracts of the TV feed from each performance. The Eurovision website has also released new pictures for each rehearsal.
🇧🇬 Bulgaria – DARA – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
After four years away and Bulgaria are BACK with a BANGER…a BANGARANGA BULGARIAN BANGER and what a show Dara puts on. A consummate professional performer, you can tell that she’s one of the best in the business in Bulgaria. An ultra modern performance with a touch of Charli XCX in the vocal delivery. We’ve seen some fantastic dancers in recent years from Chanel to Sillia Kapsis and Noa Kirel and this sits up there with the best. Will definitely go down well in the arena and at home – especially those throwing parties. What a showstopper and it’s the opener of the second semi final. Dara will be a tough act to follow.
🇦🇿 Azerbaijan – JIVA – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
With determination in her eyes Jiva storms down that long catwalk delivering a great vocal performance and how nice is it to hear Azerbaijani at the contest to give the song it caucus feel. The simplistic light staging makes her pop in a sparkling black and red dress to give her a dramatic look. A simple yet sophisticated ballad. Will surely be a tonic to some who aren’t fans of the more outlandish performances we have this year.
🇷🇴 Romania – Alexandra Căpitănescu – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
Neon white umbilical cords definitely provide to source of life for Alexandra’s vocals to soar. A fully captivating clip showing the dynamic and relationship between her and her band, the umbilical cords providing unity and they move as one to power up their rock music to new heights. A veiled woman in white providing light and shade to the leather clad roughness of the band. Could she be utopia in a sea of dystopia?
🇱🇺 Luxembourg – Eva Marija – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
MOTHER…Has arrived and she’s hear to call upon the spirits of the forest to cast her enchanting spell with her song and she definitely does with some pretty on screen visuals to really carry you away with her. Displaying both low and high registers, Eva shows herself to be a more than capable vocalist hoping to maintain Luxembourg’s 100% qualification record since their return in 2024 after their 31 year hiatus.
🇨🇿 Czechia – Daniel Zizka – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
When you come to a crossroad you are presented with multiple options and that is brilliantly reflected (pardon the pun) with the mirrored reflection of Daniel highlighting the different versions of himself showing that you can be your own crossroad where you can chose what part of you, you want to explore and the multiple journeys you can take your life in. This set to a backdrop of a beautiful vocal display that draws you deeper.
