Following the announcement of possible changes to the contest format, RAI have now confirmed the dates for Festival di Sanremo 2027 in what will be the 77th edition of the annual Italian music festival.
🇮🇹 Sanremo 2027 to take place February 16 to February 20
After the recent departure of Carlo Conti, it is now the turn of Stefano De Martino to take on the position of host and Artistic Director for Sanremo 2027. In his first duty, De Martino confirmed on his personal social media account the dates for the next edition of the Italian music festival. Next year the competition will be held from February 16 with the Grand Final of Sanremo 2027 taking place on February 20. A return to its earlier slot in the RAI programming schedule after its move last year due to Italy’s hosting of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
In recent weeks much speculation has surrounded possible changes coming to the Sanremo format. According to reports by Italian local media, one of the five evenings could become a one-off special to select the act that will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. This would separate the Eurovision selection from the festival itself which could still chose its own winner. However, these rumours have yet to be confirmed or denied by the national broadcaster RAI.
