Fans have been waiting for weeks, and it has finally been confirmed: Eurovision 2027 will take place in Burgas, on May 11, 13 and 15. The coastal city was favoured over Sofia, after a few weeks of intense speculation on the host city choice.
A choice between Sofia and Burgas
Back in mid-July, the bidding process for the Eurovision 2027 host city was slimmed down to a shortlist of two cities : Sofia, the capital city in the wast of the country, and Burgas, the fourth-largest city in the country, on the Black Sea coast in the east. Despite some good arguments in its favour (being the capital city, with a well-connected airport and a solid transit system, alongside a large arena), Sofia was not selected.
The choice itself was made by Bulgaria’s host broadcaster, BNT, alongside a panel of international specialists who have worked with the Eurovision Song Contest in the past. In the past few days, odds had been shortening in favour of Burgas, with rumours about a possible conflict between BNT and the Bulgarian government over the choice of the host, Sofia being favoured by the broadcaster.

This is not about one city hosting Eurovision. This is Bulgaria hosting Eurovision – an entire community, united and inspired. Our goal is for Europe to experience Bulgaria through Burgas.
Burgas brings something really special to the Eurovision Song Contest. It is a vibrant, welcoming city on the Black Sea with a strong musical and cultural identity, and it has the ambition, infrastructure and passion needed to welcome the Eurovision family.

The 2027 Contest will be hosted on May 11, 13 and 15 in Burgas, and this is what we know so far about the map of events.
Main Venue – Arena Burgas
The show will be hosted at Arena Burgas, which has a seating capacity of up to 15.000 in concert configurations (although the actual number will likely be lower for Eurovision, with staging and camera equipment being considerably bigger than what a normal concert would use). The arena was built over almost a decade, between 2014 and 2023, and is also used as a sporting arena, and particularly as the host venue for Burgas’ top basketball team, Chernomorets Burgas.
Other events to be announced soo
The rest of the events (Eurovision Village, Opening Ceremony, etc.) will be announced in the coming weeks.
It is possoble that the Sea Garden park could be used for spme events (such as the Village) but nothing has been confirmed yet.
