Once again, Spain have opted for an internal selection to find its Junior Eurovision 2026 representative. Following the internal selection held in July, national broadcaster RTVE revealed Lucas Paulano to the public during the finale of El perro andaluz. The broadcaster stated Lucas was chosen for his connection to camera and vocal ability.
Already becoming a household name, 10-year-old Lucas shot to fame in 2025 after winning season 10 of La Voz Kids. Hailing from Jaén in Andalucia, Lucas enjoys piano as well as singing. Currently he is studying at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música Ramón Garay.
The entry, ‘Cuore Bello (Te quiero, Te quiero)” was composed and produced by Lucas Paulano himself, alongside help from Blas Cantó, Dangelo, and Carlos Almazán. Most notably, Blas Cantó previously represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
Spain in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Back in 2003, Spain made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Despite a series of top five results, including victory for Maria Isabel in 2004, the nation took an extended break from the contest for 13 years. Since their return in 2019, Spain have continued where they left off. Throughout their eleven participations, Spain have only finished outside the top 6 on one occasion.
Last year, Spain internally selected Gonzalo Pinillos to represent the country with ‘Érase una vez (Once Upon a Time)’. During the Tbilisi contest, Gonzalo achieved fifth place with 152 points.
