NRK receives 1500 submissions for MGP 2027

Following the closure of the song submission window, Norway’s national broadcaster NRK has confirmed at total of 1500 songs have been submitted for Melodi Grand Prix 2027.

As Norway prepares for the next edition of its annual selection show, Melodi Grand Prix, the national broadcaster has confirmed more details on the submissions received. Roughly 1500 songs were submitted to NRK over the Summer. Of this submissions, the broadcaster believes anywhere between 30 to 50 songs were created fully by AI tools. This is despite an active ban that NRK has on AI in its selection process.

“It is difficult for us to stop the use of technology. The industry may have to take the lead in how to solve this.”

Mads Tørklep, (Head of Delegation, Norway)

Currently the rules and regulations of the Eurovision Song Contest do not have specific clauses regarding the use of AI in the songs performed.

Further information regarding the format and artist selection for Melodi Grand Prix 2027 will be released in the coming weeks.
