Should’ve Known Better – Part 5

Serbia:
Aleksa Jelić – Vodi Me

I would never in a million years suggest that Serbia should go back and change their minds after giving us the sublime ‘Beauty Never Lies’ in Vienna. A beacon of light amongst a bland sea of mellow mediocrity, it was one of the only chances for the audience in the arena to go truly crazy.
The other two songs in the Serbian national final were fairly bog standard Eurovision prototypes – the uptempo Europop and the dramatic female ballad. Neither out of the ordinary but would both have been decent additions with Eurovision-ready revamps, so I’ll go with the Europop number, in the interests of keeping the tempo up.
