After Latvia’s incredibly successful Eurovision year, broadcaster LTV are sticking to the formula from last year, with a second series of Supernova being used to select Latvia’s 2016 entry.
As with last year, Supernova will be broadcast every Sunday in February, with the grand final taking place on Sunday 28 February, when the Latvian entry for Stockholm will be decided by a jury and the public.
Latvian citizens can submit songs until Sunday 1 November, after which a professional jury will choose a final 20, who will be revealed in two documentaries to be shown towards the end of January.
Last year, Aminata won the national selection with ‘Love Injected’ which then went on to finish 6th at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna – this was Latvia’s first finalist since 2008. Will Supernova find an artist and song who can top this achievement? More importantly, will we be seeing the return of the real breakout star of last year’s show, Riga Beaver? Tune in to find out!
