Croatia’s broadcaster HRT has confirmed that Nina Kraljić will represent them in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Her name had been going around for quite a while.
Last month, it was already reported that HRT had selected Nina, but all that remained was the signing of the contract. That contract is now settled and the winner of The Voice of Croatia will indeed go to Stockholm. Even in 2015, HRT representatives suggested the winner of The Voice could indeed be selected for the Eurovision Song Contest.
The 22 year old will most likely have an internal song selection. She has said that the song will fit her personal style and will also have a modern twist. A release date for the Croatian entry has not been given yet.
Croatia is making a return to the Eurovision Song Contest after a two year break. Back in 2013, after Klapa S Mora failed to qualify, HRT announced to take a break after four consecutive non-qualifications for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Croatia’s best result in the Eurovision Song Contest is a fourth place, once in 1996, once in 1999.
