London Eurovision Party

Selma to be a special guest at London Eurovision Party 2016!

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Iceland’s first ever entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, and there’ll certainly be a strong Icelandic presence at the London Eurovision Party to celebrate. On Sunday, this year’s competitor Greta Salóme was added to the line-up, and now the country’s most successful Eurovision artist of all time has been confirmed as a special guest. That’s right, none other than Selma will be performing at the London Eurovision Party in Café de Paris on Sunday 17 April.
Selma / Iceland 1999 & 2005 - London Eurovision Party
Selma represented Iceland at Eurovision 1999 in Jerusalem with ‘All Out Of Luck’ and after a very close voting sequence finished 2nd to Sweden’s Charlotte Nilsson, giving Iceland its best Eurovision result ever, only since equalled by Yohanna in 2009.
After the contest, she released her debut album, I Am, which became the year’s biggest selling album in Iceland, and she has since released several more albums as well as starring and directing in many plays and musicals.
Eurovision fans will also remember her 2005 comeback when she competed in Kiev with ‘If I Had Your Love’ which didn’t make it out of the semi-final, but was one of the fan favourites of the year. Selma has also had a hand in stage directing some other Icelandic acts in Eurovision such as Birgitta (2003), Silvia Night (2006) and Maria Olafs (2015).

To see Selma performing her Eurovision hits live in the flesh, along with this year’s Icelandic singer Greta Salome and a host of other Eurovision stars, make sure to head to londoneurovision.com to get your tickets – but hurry, or you’ll be All Out of Luck (teehee)!
Meanwhile have a look at this fantastic medley from last year’s Icelandic national final, celebrating 30 years of Icelandic participation with an incredible line-up of their past participants, including Selma. See how many you can spot!
