When Alexander Rybak (2009 winner and 2018 entrant) won Melodi Grand Prix in March, the dancers in his performance were not his backing vocalists. Now, NRK has revealed the new team of dancers to join him on stage in Lisbon.
One of the biggest child stars in Norway
One of his new dancers/backing vocalists in Lisa Børud, who is famous for being a former Christian child star and having sold over 120 000 albums in Norway. She finished fourth in the popular TV competition show Stjernekamp last year.
- “It’s a very catchy song and I’m looking forward to sing backing vocals to it on stage.” she says.
A backing vocalist veteran
Other dancers and backing vocalists are Lene Kokai Flage from Bergen, Jens Jeffry Trinidad as a choreographer and dancer and Frode Vassel as a backing vocalist. Also joining Rybak on stage is Alvaro Estrella as both dancer and backing vocalist. He has a big experience in providing backing vocals in Eurovision, having been on stage behind Eric Saade in 2011, Sergey Lazarev in 2016 and Robin Bengtsson last year. He also took part in Melodifestivalen in 2014 with the song “Bedroom”, but failed to make it to the next round.
Lisa Børud was the one who did not have to audition to be a part of the team. She had no time to audition, but was asked specifically as the Norwegian team knows her well. She says that breathing and to remember all the lyrics are her biggest challenges in the performance.
Alexander Rybak wrote in the press release, that he’s happy with his new backing team and that they’re 5 entertainers and also great singers and dancers.
