The latest artist to rehearse for the second time is Sanja Ilić & Balkanika for Serbia. We have just watched their latest run through of Nova Deca live on screen and here is our initial reaction.

Staging

There are quite a few changes for this second Serbian rehearsal which mainly revolve around their costumes, see below, and additional choreography. The choreography now takes place throughout much of the song between Mladen and the three female performers, and it looks very polished and suits the track.

Danica is still the focus of the performance but Mladen is given more airtime in comparison to Tuesday’s rehearsal which enhances the connection between the two of them for the audience at home.

Vocals

All of the Serbian performers are sounding great, Danica sounds either more restrained with her vocals today… or the sound levels may have been altered. Nevertheless, this still sounds very effective.

Costume

Lots of costume changes today for Serbia in comparison to Tuesday! The three females are now in long, flowing dresses which are black on the top half and white on the bottom half. Mladen is in a black cape-type top with black skinny trousers. This results in a much darker performance that looks very cohesive.

To qualify or not to qualify?

We have taken a flash poll from around the ESCXTRA table here in the press centre and 7 out of 11 of us say…

NO!

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
