ESCXTRA: Live from Lisbon

Day 8: Amaia & Alfred glow in their second rehearsal for Spain – PREDICTION & REVIEW

ESCXTRA are live from Lisbon for day 8 of rehearsals ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018! The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are Portugal, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France and Italy. It’s a very short day today because this afternoon, the blue carpet takes place ahead of the official Opening Ceremony!

In addition, for our immediate reactions to every single rehearsal, you can follow our live stream from the press centre at the Altice Arena by visiting our YouTube channel.
The next artist to rehearse for the second time is Amaia y Alfred for Spain. We have just watched their latest run through of Tu canción live on screen and here is our initial reaction.

Staging

The Spanish delegation has chosen a few different camera shots for this rehearsal. Amaia and Alfred still begin their performance on either side of the stage, walking towards each other during the first chorus. Amaia and Alfred interact with each other beautifully.
As the second verse begins, Alfred is behind Amaia and holding her waist. They now stand together for the second chorus but engage with the cameras. For the middle 8, Amaia and Alfred walk in a circular motion, and the steadycam also moves in a circular motion to give a gentle, sweeping effect. It’s a simple performance that complements the song well and we expect pyros to feature in a future run through.

Vocals

As always, Amaia and Alfred’s vocals are both perfect. There’s nothing more than can be said.

Costume

Amaia and Alfred have changed their costumes for this second rehearsal. Alfred has opted for a blue suit, with a white shirt underneath. Amaia has chosen a darker dress that is almost chocolate brown in colour. The texture of her dress is netted and tighter fitting on her top half.

Left-hand side of the board?

We have taken a flash poll from around the ESCXTRA table here in the press centre and  5 out of 6 of us say…

YES!
