Netta teaches Piers Morgan the “chicken dance” in Good Morning Britain interview

Following Netta’s victory at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, it was revealed that BMG Rights Management and S-Curve Records would launch a “worldwide promotional push” for the winning Israeli entry TOY. It seems that this may be underway with Netta being one of today’s guests on Good Morning Britain, the United Kingdom’s second most popular breakfast show. Of course, host Piers Morgan had plenty of fun with Netta’s infamous “chicken dance”!

Piers and Netta cluck around at ITV

Piers tweeted a video of himself and Netta doing the TOY chicken dance in the ITV studios to his 6.5 million followers earlier today. Indeed, the video itself has already received more than 64,000 views! Should Piers have been one of Netta’s backing dancers? Watch the video below and make your judgement!

“I didn’t think I could even win [Rising Star]!”

Of course, it wasn’t all fun and games! Netta appeared on this morning’s show for a brief discussion regarding her Eurovision experience and how exactly she pulls off that clucking lyric! Describing the reaction to her win at last month’s contest, Netta said:

It’s nuts! It’s all sort of things: it’s a lot of love, a lot of hugs. I wanted to do a lot of good stuff for a lot of people and I think I accomplished that.
I was just a struggling musician in Israel. I entered a reality show that chooses the Israeli representative for Eurovision. I was very niche, I didn’t think I could [even] win [that]!

The cultural appropriation debate

During the interview, Susannah Reid mentioned that immediately following Netta’s victory, the show discussed whether Netta had been rightfully accused of cultural appropriation as a result of her Japanese-themed performance. Piers and Trisha Goddard certainly did not believe Netta was culturally appropriating Japan and you can watch the full debate, also featuring Rebecca Reid, below:
