The biggest annual music show in Greece took place in Athens last month. Yesterday it was finally time to air the MAD Awards 2018 on Greek TV. Many Eurovision artists made an appearance at this huge show in front of thousands of fans. The MAD Awards already aired for the 15th consecutive year and it’s already a big part of our summer. Many beloved Eurovision artists took the stage and we’ll bring you all the stunning performances below.
Tamta & Mikolas Josef
Next, to mostly Greek artists, there was one big surprise when Tamta brought out this year’s Czech representative Mikolas Josef. After Tamta performed her summer hit Arhes kalokeriou (Early summer), Mikolas took over the stage with his hit Lie To Me and Tamta joined him to make his Eurovision song a duet. They left us in shock! Watch their amazing performance below:
What would be a Greek music award show without this year’s runner-up Eleni Foureira? She performed her new single Caramela, which was officially released the next day by her record label. Moreover, she also performed a special remix of her Eurovision entry to close the show.
Our 2005 Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou also took the stage in Athens to perform the lead single from her latest album Ouranio toxo (Rainbow) in a special remix.
She also performed on stage with the boyband MELISSES, who took part in the 2010 national final in Greece. They performed a special version of their 2013 summer hit Ola moiazoun kalokeri.
Last year’s Greek singer Demy was also part of the show to perform on stage with Melina Aslanidou, a contemporary version of the Greek song An s’ arnitho agapi mou.
Yes, we need him in a Greek music show! Sakis Rouvas who represented Greece in 2004 and 2009 performed his latest single on stage. Kalimera (Good morning) is already a big success in Greece. Moreover, he also won the award for “Best Male Artist”!
For his second performance, Sakis was joined by Anastasios Rammos to perform together the Greek song Oso eho esena (As long as I have you).
Next, to their performance with Helena Paparizou, MELISSES also took the stage with Themis Adamantidis. Together they performed a new version of his older song Stin kardia (At heart). Later that evening MELISSES won the award for the “Best Band Of The Year”!
As you can see, Greece delivered one hell of a show with many Eurovision stars and brilliant performances. Who was your favorite? let us know your opinion in the comments below or on social media @ESCXTRA.
