Shortly after the announcement, both Roxen and Romanian broadcaster TVR gave public statements:

I am very glad that I was chosen to represent Romania at Eurovision and I thank everyone for their trust and support, the audience, the composers and the team that is always with me. With patience and correct information, we can get over it and resume all our activities. And why not, see you at ESC 2021. I will continue to make music throughout the next period and wish to hear from each others soon and of course, I will continue to promote and sing all 5 songs, “Alcohol You”, “Beautiful Disaster”, “Cherry Red”, “Colors” and “Storm”. Our dear ones, we are very sorry that the Eurovision has been canceled, but these are preventive measures and decisions of the competent authorities. We were preparing as if nothing was happening, but following the decisions of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, we stopped with preparations and today received official information that Eurovision was canceled. There is nothing we can do but respect. Of course we are disappointed not only with the Eurovision cancellation but with the whole situation that has plagued us. We hope to end this agony as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!
