Whilst we await for new music from the reigning champion of the Eurovision Song Contest, Duncan Laurence has managed to achieve another milestone with his entry. Arcade has now achieved over 100 Million streams over on the streaming platform Spotify.
3rd Eurovision winner to achieve this feat
Duncan Laurence is not the first Eurovision winner to achieve this feat. At the time of writing, Loreen; and her entry Euphoria has the highest amount of streams any Eurovision winner has to date. The current figures are as follows:
- Loreen – Euphoria (Single Version) – 125,817,008
- Måns Zelmerlöw – Heroes – 115,629,879
- Duncan Laurence – 100,073,734
It is not just Eurovision winners that have managed to achieve this feat. With the increase of availability of streaming, recent Eurovision entries, are seeing increased streaming figures. Some artists that have surpassed the 100 million, includes 2019 runner-up Mahmood, with his entry Soldi as the most streamed Eurovision track to date.
Duncan Laurence at the Eurovision Song Contest
The Netherlands internally selected Duncan Laurence to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. In Tel Aviv, Duncan managed to bring The Netherlands to the Grand Final for a fourth consecutive year.
In addition to his participation in the Grand Final, Duncan also managed to win the ‘Press Award’ for the ‘Marcel Bezençon Awards’ as voted for by the Press.
And after 44 years, Duncan managed to win the Eurovision Song Contest for The Netherlands. The last time the country won the contest was in 1975 with “Ding-a-dong”.
