Two time Junior Eurovision host Kim-Lian van der Meij has released a new single. The Dutch television host, singer and actress has opted to sing in the language of her new home country: Swedish! The result is “Dansa Utan Chans”.
Kim-Lian: A true multi talent
In the Netherlands, Kim-Lian is an established name. She has been acting in several musicals and TV series for over twenty years, also scoring multiple hits as a singer. In 2003, “Teenage Superstar” even hit #1 in Indonesia, whilst also charting in the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden.
The Netherlands hosted Junior Eurovision in 2007 and 2012. On both occasions of the Netherlands hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, broadcaster AVRO chose Kim-Lian to host the show. Meanwhile, she has hosted a plethora of television shows, including Ninja Warrior NL and Thank You For The Music.
Heja Sverige!
In 2003, Kim-Lian met Swedish producer Daniel Gibson. He wrote her first hit single and the couple have been together ever since. They now have three kids and live in Sweden for most of the time. It’s not Kim-Lian’s first appearance in the Swedish music market. Back in 2009, she teamed up with Melodifestivalen icon Linda Bengtzing to release “Not That Kinda Girl”.
Recently, Kim-Lian made a return to music. After mainly hosting TV shows for a couple of years, she released “Dansen In Het Moeras”. That song has now also become her first ever Swedish single, “Dansa Utan Chans”. With some new Swedish lyrics, the song gets a fresh sound to introduce Kim-Lian to a relatively new market for her. She released the promo last week, which you can see here. As you may expect, Kim-Lian’s husband Daniel Gibson is behind the song, together with Matijs Tieken, Danne Attlerud and Kim-Lian herself. The official video will be released on 7th June.
