🇧🇬 Johnny Manuel makes the Grand Final of ‘The Voice Australia’

Time sure does fly when you’re on a journey. It only felt like yesterday, when Johnny Manual auditioned for the latest season of The Voice Australia. Throughout the past month we’ve seen him progress through to the showdowns and then the Semi-Finals.

Now, as the latest season of The Voice Australia nears it conclusion. It was revealed that Johnny Manuel, has made the Grand Final of this year’s competition. He is the final contender of his mentor, and fellow Eurovision alumni Guy Sebastian.

An emotional performance during the Semi-Final

For his Semi-Final performance, Johnny Manuel chose to perform the song ‘A Change Is Gonna Come‘. The song was originally sung by American singer Sam Cooke.

When Johnny’s performance on the stage finished, we could see Johnny emotional. He received an overwhelmingly positive reception from both the mentors and the audiences alike.

When asked about how special the lyrics of the song, Johnny mentioned about how he grew up hearing it. How the song was created more than fifty years ago and that there’s still so much inequality.

Johnny also mentioned that it takes a lot to sing through something like that, coming from a person of colour. In addition, he also mentions how singing the song means so much more than he could put to words.

The latest season of The Voice Australia concludes this Sunday. 19th July and will air on the Nine Network at Australia at 19:00.

Johnny Manuel at the Eurovision Song Contest

Johnny Manuel first came to the attention of us Eurovision fans in March 2018 as part of the Bulgarian act EQUINOX. Their song ‘Bones’ was well received by fans and critics alike, and after qualifying to the final they placed a respectable 14th.

We would like to wish Johnny, the very best of luck at the Grand Final of The Voice Australia on Sunday.
