🇰🇿 Kazakhstan receives 684 submissions for Junior Eurovision 2020 national selection

On August 11th, the Kazakh broadcaster, Khabar TV, opened the submission process for young artists to apply to take part in the Kazakh national selection for the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Following the close of submissions, the broadcaster has revealed that there have been a total of 684 applicants “from all areas of the country”.

Online voting begins tonight!

Today, organisers will finalise a shortlist of thirty contestants who will qualify for the next stage of the selection: an online voting phase. At midnight local time on August 22nd, Khabar TV will upload videos of the 30 shortlisted candidates on their official Junior Eurovision website. The public will then be able to vote for their favourites. Following the conclusion of the online voting, the most popular contestants amongst the public will then progress to the national televised final, scheduled to air on September 26th.

“So talented and gifted”

In response to the applicants, the official Kazakh Junior Eurovision Instagram page stated the following (translated from Kazakh):

You are all so different, but so talented and gifted. We are happy and grateful to you for your active participation in the selection and in social networks. We wish everyone creative prosperity!

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
