Some of Ukraine’s biggest musical stars came together to perform in Kyiv’s Mikhailovskaya Square as part of the 2020 Ukraine Independence Day celebrations. ICTV have published the video of the performances.
An unforgettable, bright show was staged by the stars on Mikhailovskaya Square in Kiev for the Independence Day. They presented the song history of modern Ukraine from 42 fragments of iconic compositions.
The country celebrates Ukraine Independence Day on 24th August. As part of the celebrations a variety of Ukrainian singers performed a range of well known songs to celebrate the song history of Ukraine. Performers included Eurovision and Vidbir favourites Jamala, Ruslana, Tayanna, Tina Karol, Verka Serduchka and The Hardkiss. Normally at this time large crowds would gather in Kyiv for a range of street performances and concerts. However due to the Covid-19 pandemic organisers had to create an alternative with more distanced performances.
The sixteen minutes feature performances from Eurovision winners Ruslana and Jamala, Eurovision 2007 runner-up Verka Serduchka (of course making a a grand entrance!) and 2006’s 6th place Tina Karol. The Hardkiss perform a clip of Jamala’s ‘1944’, with Jamala returning to cover their hit ‘Make Up’.
