She was Europe’s number one with her entry back in Eurovision 2005, and now Helena Paparizou has said she would take part again if she had a song right for her.
A potential return on one condition
Following the release of her new single “Se Xeno Soma”, Helena appeared on the TV show Kalo Mesimeraki. The host asked if she would be interested in returning to Eurovision. To which she replied:
Had I had the right song, I would be taking part again. Just like the way it happened back in 2005 with My Number One.
I remember myself at home, sitting at the family table and people were saying not to go to Eurovision, since I was at the beginning of my solo career. I slammed my arms on the table and I said “I’m already there, I’m going!”. I didn’t know, of course, with which song. Mentally I was ready to take part in the competition.

Ironically, this statement comes just days after Eurovision Again announced her as the winner of the 2005 re-watch. However, it is unknown whether this will spark a return to the contest for her.

Greek broadcaster ERT internally selected Helena with the song “My Number One”. She won the contest in Ukraine with 230 points. To date, this is Greece’s only Eurovision win.
