The Scoop🇸🇲 San Marino

🇸🇲 Senhit releases cover of Cliff Richard’s ‘Congratulations’

San Marino’s Eurovision 2021 representative Senhit has already entertained us with Eurovision covers of ‘Cheesecake‘ and ‘Everyway That I Can and ‘Ding-A-Dong‘, as she navigates her way to her participation for 2021.

For the fourth instalment of her #FreakyTriptoRotterdam, Senhit has decided to make it a celebration, as she has chosen to cover Cliff Richard’s ‘Congratulations’, which placed 2nd at the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest.

The continuation of the series, sees Senhit’s continued collaboration with Luca Tommassini, which we see her put a modern twist to a Eurovision classic, as well as mixing along the glitz and glamour we are familiar with from Senhit.

‘A magical celebration’

The release of the fourth entry to #FreakyTriptoRotterdam, fell on Senhit’s birthday. Senhit explains it as what would happen if ‘Federico Fellini and David Bowie would join her birthday party.

Upon the release of her cover of ‘Congratulations’ she spoke to Eurovision fan website Wiwibloggs about the ideas for the video:

We mixed sounds and colours to recreate a great circus also on a musical level, which gives the idea of joy, freedom, party! We scream to the world that we are happy, proud of who we are, in whatever way they define us: artists, outcasts, dreamers, freaks. Ours is a dance of expiation and rebirth, a liberating cry that starts from a beach, among other things today, on my birthday, and reaches the whole world!

Don’t forget to stick around, as Senhit is set to release the fifth entry to her #FreakyTriptoRotterdam on November 1.

Senhit at the Eurovision Song Contest

In 2011, Senhit represented San Marino in Düsseldorf (as Senit), with the song ‘Stand By‘. Unfortunately, she failed to qualify for the Grand Final when she placed 16th in the semi-final.

Nearly ten years on, Senhit announced her return to the Eurovision Song Contest. After an online-vote, it was announced that she will be singing ‘Freaky’. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 contest, it was announced that Senhit will represent San Marino at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.
