🇬🇪 Georgia to select Junior Eurovision act on November 13th

The song will be internally selected

It’s selection show was delayed due to Covid-19, however Georgia have almost found their artist for Junior Eurovision 2020!

‘Ranina’ will reach it’s finale on the 13th of November. Three artists will battle it out in the final in the hopes of continuing the impressive legacy of the Caucasian nation at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Why so late?

A fair question, seeing as last year’s representative Giorgi Rostiashvili was selected in May of 2019. However last year was, as we all know, a very different time. Ranina was scheduled to begin in late March of this year but the pandemic put a halt to these plans. After a few more minor delays, the show finally began on September 11th, and is set to run for two months like previous years. All this considered, November 13th makes perfect sense (minus two days!).

How will the artist be selected?

Beginning on September 11th, the show has continued each Friday. On the sixth of November, a semi final will take place in which a jury will select three participants to go forward to the final. The winner of the final will go to Warsaw with an internally selected song on November 29th.

Georgia’s Junior Eurovision history

Georgia made it’s debut in the 2007 edition of the contest. Right off the bat the country gained a top-5 finish with Mariam Romelashvili and her song ‘Odelia Ranuni’. Victory came a year later, with Bzikebi and their now iconic song ‘Bzz’.

Georgia would win the contest twice more, in 2011 and 2016, giving them a record three wins in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The nation has hosted the contest once in 2017, where the contest was held in the capital Tbilisi. Their most recent representative, Giorgi Rostiashvili, came 14th in 2019 with his song ‘We Need Love’.
