According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, three more acts – including Idol 2019 winner Tusse – have been revealed for Melodifestivalen 2021. These acts will reportedly join P4 Nästa winner Julia Alfrida in the Swedish national final next year.
At the start of the month, it was announced that next year’s Melodifestivalen final would take place on 13th March. All six of the shows in 2021, including the final, will be held in Stockholm. SVT will not confirm the names for the national final until later in the year, however, based on previous years, Aftonbladet’s sources are generally accurate.
The Swedish Idol: Tusse
The first name reported to be taking part is last year’s Swedish Idol winner, Tusse. Hailing from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he scored his first Swedish chart hit in 2019 with “Rain”, following his win on the show.
According to the Swedish newspaper, he has been working with several record companies and songwriters at songwriting camps this summer. An unnamed source has told Aftonbladet that:
Yes, Tusse will be competing.

The dansband: Sannex
Formed in the late 1970s, dansband Sannex are also reported to be partipating in next year’s Melodifestivalen. Andreas Olsson, Patrich Rundström, Christian Olsson and Micke Norsten make up the current line-up of the group, which have had an ever-changing line-up over the years.
The dansband are looking for Melfest success next year, after winning a Swedish Grammi award in 2017 for Dansband of the Year.
Two become one: Sam-E & Wahl
Finally, two well-known faces in Sweden are joining forces for Melodifestivalen next year. Sami “Sam-E” Rekik, who is also known as a member of Medina, will join forces with Christopher “Wahl” Valhberg of SödraSidan.
The rappers are set to perform an urban pop song at the national final next year, the source reveals.
I haven’t heard it, but I can image that the sound will be a mix of Sam-E and Wahl.
