Christmas is a time for giving and Norway’s Eurovision 2020 star Ulrikke has delivered! Now she wants all your attention for the ten gifts on her festive filled debut album ‘Spend Christmas With Me’.
Spend Christmas with Ulrikke
What better time than Christmas to share new music and goodwill? That is what Norwegian songstress Ulrikke has done in releasing her first album. These ten stocking fillers are a showcase of Ulrikke’s flawless vocals, gift wrapped in the festive spirit of true Nordic Christmas. This is an album to get comfortable in front of a log fire with and reflect on all the best memories of this time of year.
The whole dream with the album has been that while you listen you should feel like you are at one of my Christmas concerts, that the Christmas spirit is flowing and that the body is filled with heat. I wanted the songs to ′′live′′ a little, and maybe manage to find the magic in the imperfect? Don’t screw and fix too much on things, but preserve your feelings and presence.

Among the songs are new duets, such as title track ‘Spend Christmas With Me’ with fellow Melodi Grand Prix alumni Ben Adams. Which is the sleigh bells anthem every Christmas album needs. As well as last week’s release of ‘Nyttårsnatt’ with Trygve Skaug. Throughout the album is a clear theme to align new and old traditions and give her new fans the essence of the homeland. Ever present in Ulrikke’s modern twist on Norwegian poem ‘Det Lyser i Stille Grender’ and the Danish poem ‘Mitt hjerte alltid vanker’.
Ulrikke In The Eurovision Song Contest
Before participating in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix, she participated in the competition previously in 2017 with her song ‘Places’, which placed fourth overall in the competition.
In 2020, Ulrikke returned to the competition and won Melodi Grand Prix with her song ‘Attention’.Unfortunately due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the EBU announced earlier this year the cancellation of Eurovision 2020. However NRK later offered Ulrikke a direct qualification for the 2021 final; but she declined the offer. Instead the Norwegian Head of Delegation, Stig Karlsen has suggested we will see Ulrikke in 2021 in another role. Before then you can purchase tickets to see Ulrikke perform live at her Julekonsert on 4th December here!
