Good News! After months of wondering if whether there is a chance they could return to Eurovision 2021. Lithuania’s Eurovision 2020 representative have confirmed that they will be participating at the Lithuanian National Final in 2021. They confirmed the news earlier this week via social media:
Lithuania to hold a National Final to find Eurovision 2021 representative
After the cancellation of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, LRT revealed that they will be holding a National Final in order to select their 2021 Eurovision representative. With this, it was revealed that The Roop have been invited to compete in the competition to appear in the final.
Last month, LRT opened submissions for artists who are interested in competing in the 2021 selection, with submissions running open until the 14th December.
The remaining participants is set to be revealed on the 23rd December, with the National Final, set to commence on the 16th January.
Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest
Lithuania first entered the contest in 1994 with “Lopšinė mylimai” by Ovidijus Vyšniauskas. Last year in Tel Aviv, Jurijus Veklenko sang “Run With The Lions” and came 11th in Semi-final 2 with 93 points, narrowly missing out on the Grand final. The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam would have been the Baltic nation’s 21st Eurovision appearance if the contest hadn’t been canceled.
