Slovenia’s traditional Eurovision national selection EMA will be all about Ana Soklič in 2021. The song selection show will take place on February 27th.
In July, the Slovenian broadcaster RTV Slovenija started receiving songs for Ana Soklič to sing at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. 191 songs, a record number for Slovenia’s selection, were sent in and now the broadcaster together with the artist herself and expert jury will select the songs to take part in EMA 2021. Three songs have already been selected and one or two more are set to be added in.
Next year Slovenia will celebrate the 60 years in Eurovision as Yugoslavia debuted at the contest in 1961. Their first entry “Neke davne zvezde” was composed and conducted by Slovenian Jože Privšek. During EMA 2021 we will see some of the most successful performances Slovenia and Yugoslavia have had at the contest.
Ana Soklič in Eurovision
After winning EMA 2020, Ana Soklič was set to represent Slovenia in Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song “Voda”. However, as the contest was cancelled due the COVID-19 pandemic, the Slovenian broadcaster RTV Slovenija internally selected Ana to represent the country in 2021.
Recently Ana released a music video and English version of the song “Voda”. The almost 8-minute long music video is dedicated to Ana’s grandmother, who passed away this year.
