Today we got the first song for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, Finland’s national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The song “Lie” by Oskr was released together with a lyric video.

The song is written by Oskari Ruohonen, Joonas Angeria and David Pramik.
Joonas Angeria has written multiple hits to Finland’s biggest artists. He also co-wrote UMK entries “Looking Back” for Aksel and “Crossroads” for Satin Circus. This year he has two songs in as he also co-wrote Aksel’s 2021 entry “Hurt”.
Los Angeles-based David Pramik has written songs to international stars such as Selena Gomez and G-Eazy.
Who is Oskr?
Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Oskari Ruohonen has just adapted his new stage name Oskr. He has released few singles in Finnish, but now kickstarts his career in English. Next to his solo career he also is part of bands Yournalist and Traffic Island.
Oskr comes from very musical family. His dad and uncle form the duo Matti ja Teppo, who have sold the second-most records in Finland. Oskr names Brainstorm’s “My Star” as his favourite Eurovision entry ever.
Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2021
The tenth edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu will take place on February 20 at 20:00 CET. Seven artists will compete and the Finnish public together with international juries will choose Finland’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2021. This year the international jury will give out only 25 percent of the votes giving the televoters more power.
The seven contestants who are taking part are Ilta, Laura, Oskr, Teflon Brothers x Pandora, Aksel, Danny and Blind Channel. Mikko Silvennoinen will serve as the commentator of the show and the host will be revealed in February.
