🇬🇷 Helena Paparizou to release “Apohrosis” on 29th January

Helena Paparizou has announced the date on which she will release her next studio album. The record, titled Apohrosis will see daylight on 29th January. The four year wait for a new album by the 2005 Eurovision winner is finally over!

Ten solo albums for Helena Paparizou

Apohrosis, which translates into English as ‘Shades’, will be Paparizou’s tenth solo album, three of which have been under the flag of Minos EMI. Before 2012, Paparizou released her albums with Sony. Nine of her previous albums were aimed at a Greek market. The release of Apohrosis is highly anticipated in Greece, with all of her solo albums reaching #1 in the Greek charts, with the exception of One Life. The 2014 album was first and foremost released in Sweden, but still reached #3 in Greece. Add to that that no less than six of her records have gone platinum and you know: Helena Paparizou is the ‘number one’ star in her home country.

Fans have had to wait quite a while for the release of Apohrosis. After consistently releasing an album every two years, it now took the Greek-Swedish songstress four years to drop a new record. Ouranio Toxo dates back to 2017.

Thirteen songs, new sound?

We know Apohrosis will contain thirteen songs. Many of these will be singles, such as Kati Skoteino, Mila Mou, Se Xeno Soma, Askopa Xenihtia, Kalokairi kai Pathos and her duet with Sakis Rouvas, Etsi Einai i Fasi. Obviously, also her latest single, a collaboration with rapper Marseaux called Deja Vu, will be on the tracklist.

On her new album, Helena Paparizou will treat her fans to what they know and love from her. However, there will also be a new side to her music. Completely in line with pop music, Paparizou will make more use of 80s rhythms and styles than she has done previously. The record will also contain a couple of ballads. Furthermore, the album will clearly be inspired by Greek folk music.

Helena Paparizou is clearly still going strong after 22 years in the music business. The 38-year old won the Best Female Adult Award at the most recent MAD TV Video Music Awards show. The award is a highly coveted prize in the Greek music world. If you want to pre-save Helena Paparizou’s new album on Spotify, you can do so right here.

She was reportedly close to signing a deal to perform Fuego in 2018, but in the end, she declined the offer.
