🇱🇻 Samanta Tina teases Eurovision 2021 entry

The entry was a combination of four teams and song concepts

It was announced back in November that Samanta Tina had already chosen her Eurovision 2021 entry. After much teasing and speculation, it was revealed that Samanta’s entry will be revealed as part of a series of special programming from the broadcaster. This week, she posted behind-the-scenes footage and pictures from the music video shoot.

Via her Instagram story, Samanta teased the filming of the music video for her entry. This footage will be presented in the documentary series ‘Kā uzvarēt Eirovīzijā? Samantas Tīnas ceļš uz Roterdamu’.

An extended snippet from the recording of the entry has also appeared online this week:

More details about selection

As we previously reported, Samanta and her team wrote 11 potential entries during her songwriting camp this summer. In the process she consulted former Latvian Eurovision representatives Aminata (2015) and Kārlis Būmeistars (Valters & Kaža, 2005)”.

I’m not looking for a standard Eurovision classic! I want to stay with that surprise, that crazy.

Samanta about her entry

During the process, four song concepts and teams were merged in order to create Samanta’s entry. The final entry was produced by Oscar Wuhan, who has worked with Aminata previously. In the episode, she also noted that some of the songs that didn’t get selected may be released in the future as singles.

The series kicked off Friday 12 February

The series is titled Kā uzvarēt Eirovīzijā? Samantas Tīnas ceļš uz Roterdamu (How to win at Eurovision? Samantas Tīna’s Road to Rotterdam). It follows Samanta’s process of creating the song, which will be released in conjunction with the final episode on March 12.

The structure of the series is roughly as follows:

  • First episode (Feb 12) – Samanta’s songwriting camp
  • Second episode (Feb 19) – Behind the scenes of costume design
  • Third episode (Feb 26) – Eurovision experts share what they think makes a Eurovision winner
  • Fourth episode (March 5) – Details about the performance for her 2021 entry
  • Fifth episode (March 12) – Creation of music video + entry released

The show is broadcast on Fridays at 21:00 local time on LTV1 and online via REPLAY.lv. The streaming platform also features interviews and content featuring former Latvian Eurovision stars.
