🇲🇩 LIVE DAY 3 REVIEW: Moldova’s Natalia Gordienko ditches her video concept for the staging

Moldova is the seventh country to rehearse today, giving us a surprisingly toned-down performance are live for day 3 of rehearsals ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 taking place at the Rotterdam Ahoy in The Netherlands!

The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are San Marino, Estonia, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, Poland, Moldova, Iceland and Serbia.

Rehearsal review

The performance starts with Natalia sitting on a human chair, created by her four male dancers. She is wearing a silver glittery dress, while her dancers are all in black in blazers with bare chests peeking through. I’m already expecting memes comparing Natalia and Elena Tsagrinou’s styling, as their dresses, hair and make-up are very similar. Sufficed to say, Natalia looks stunning.

The entire performance is on a white spinning platform, framed by black and pink lights. The pink lights make the performance feel clean and slick, but perhaps…too clean? By Moldova’s standards, this is subtle. The choreography is the same routine as the video, but the platform is somewhat constricting of what can be done. The vocal is breathy, but it works in a sort of Marilyn Monroe way.

The biggest surprise is that…there were no surprises. From the video I would have expected something more bright and camp, but instead, it’s another neon pop number. Moldova are very unlucky to be in the same half as San Marino, who quite frankly do the rotating platform thing better.
