Following their withdrawal over a decade ago, the Romanian broadcaster has confirmed that they will not be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2021. They join a string of countries who will not be taking part in the contest this December.
2021 will mark 12th consecutive non-participation
Romania’s TVR have ruled out a return to Junior Eurovision 2021. As the broadcaster debates their recent performance at the main contest, they have confirmed to Eurofestivales that a return to the Junior contest is not on the cards for the time being.
Romania were once a staple of Junior Eurovision, debuting in the inaugural edition back in 2003 and participating in every edition until their final appearance in 2009. Notably, the 2006 contest was hosted at the Sala Polivalentă in Bucharest.
