New Music Friday – this week with Daði Freyr, Jessica Mauboy, The Mamas & more!

Ten of the best new songs from Eurovision artists!

Blind Channel – ‘We Are No Saints’

When the saints went marching in, I bet you didn’t think it was with guitars and heavy metal. Well, let Blind Channel rewrite that story here on New Music Friday. Bring your mosh-pit, because the Finnish rockers are back with their latest release, ‘We Are No Saints’. Preferring to be sinners, as they revel in the grungy, underground hell-scape they’ve created, this new track reminds us why they earned their sixth place in Rotterdam. This brash, in-your-face anthem shows you can never hide from your dark side (yes, I know what I did) and people can either love or hate that. One for the wrestling fans, with its nostalgic tribute to the angry WWE Royal Rumble theme tunes of old.

Molly Hammar – ‘Love Me Blind’

A regular on New Music Friday, Molly Hammar is fresh from her latest EP God Is Lonely Too and already releasing new material. The Melodifestivalen 2015 and 2016 star and one time Eurovision performer on Malta’s 2016 entry ‘Walk On Water‘, brings the emotional ‘Love Me Blind’ this week. Going a step further to connect the message to the audience, Molly also shares an intimate live version of the single. The raw, soul of Molly’s powerful vocal is accompanied by a symphony of percussion to match her heightened emotions as she tells a story of a one sided relationship and that need to be loved.

Ryan Riback (ft. Dotter) – ‘(Just Can’t) Hate U’

No it’s not Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak posing under a new name. This is South African-born, Australian DJ Ryan Riback. Many will remember Ryan’s remix of Starley’s ‘Call On Me‘ that elevated the 2017 hit to worldwide status. Here he’s calling on Melodifestivalen star Dotter with latest single, ‘(Just Can’t) Hate U)’. Previously Dotter was trying to make us all ‘Jealous‘, now she’s full of hate. Or at least trying to be, in this summer breakup anthem that plays to a pop side of Dotter we don’t usually see, but is very welcome!
