Rehearsal review
Rehearsing today for Italy inside La Seine Musicale is Elisabetta Lizza, performing “Specchio”. As the first rehearsals are closed to the press, this review is based upon content made public by the EBU and France Télévisions.
Italy’s Elisabetta Lizza is opting for backup dancers as well throughout the performance of her rock song. Her 4 backup dancers are wearing black and white, as is the lead singer herself. There are little mirrors on their clothes, referring to the song title which translates to “Mirror On The Wall”.
The backdrop changes throughout the performance. One of those is the black background with masks displayed. Mind you, not the COVID-19 kind of masks, but full face mask that remind one of Italian opera or theater. The background changes colours, going from pink to green to blue, contrasting with the black and white outfits.
Italy’s song is a rock song, which shows in the performance. While Elisabetta isn’t holding a guitar, she doesn’t just stand behind the microphone but also moves around a little. Otherwise, her dancers make sure that the staging looks anything but static. Definitely a good job from Italy!
