Selecţia Naţională 2022
Romanian broadcaster TVR recently announced that a total of 94 artists have applied for Selecţia Naţională 2022. For Selecţia Naţională 2022, around 40% of entries were written by foreign composers. These composers hail from countries including Sweden, Great Britain, Russia, Croatia, Israel, Italy, Greece, Spain and Bulgaria. In addition, the pool of artists is one of Selecţia Naţională’s highest yet, which indicates that there is a strong interest to bring Romania success at Eurovision 2022 in Turin.
Eurovision Romania’s project manager, Iuliana Marciuc also hinted at strong competition:
“I think that the jury will have a not easy task in the next two days, when it will decide the semifinalists of this year’s edition“.

Plus, he also hinted at possible returnees:
Soloists and composers who have represented Romania at Eurovision, with experience in this competition, have returned, but we also have new artists, established or less known, who have the opportunity to win a place on the stage of the biggest profile competition in the world .

Who will judge?
The jurors for this year’s pre-selection who will choose the best 45 songs to progress to the next stage of the competition include;

- Randi
- Cristian Faur
- Adrian Romcescu
If some of the names above look familiar to you, you’re not wrong. In fact, the list of jury specialists above includes previous Selecţia Naţională participants and composers of Romanian Eurovision entries.
Details of the competition
The semifinals and finals are to take place between February and March next year. More importantly, the final stage of the competition will take place on March 5, where 10 artists will battle it out for the ticket to Eurovision.
