The X Factor Finalists in Israel have been chosen. Four acts now remain in the running to be Israel’s Eurovision entrant at Turin.
The fifth and penultimate week of X Factor Israel has concluded, leaving four acts remaining in the competition. On Sunday January 23rd, all of the acts remaining performed and two, Eli Huli and Inbal Bibi advanced to next week’s final, on February 5th. That left two places remaining in the final between the remaining four acts, which were decided on Thursday night in Israel.
The Thursday show consisted of two rounds. The show held two duels to determine who would advance to round two, each artist performing a cover song. The lowest score across both duels, Shachar Adawi, was eliminated in this first round. The remaining three artists then performed one more time. Michael Ben David and Sapir Shaban were chosen as the final two finalists. The juries eliminated Anna Stefani on a tiebreak, choosing to save Sapir.
The X Factor Israel Finalists
This makes the finalists as below. One of these four will represent Israel at Eurovision in Turin:
- Eli Huli
- Inbal Bibi
- Michael Ben David
- Sapir Shaban
Final Format
On February 3rd, two days before the final, Reshet 13 will air “Our Song For Eurovision”, in which a combined jury and televote will select a song for all four finalists. Therefore each finalist will receive their Eurovision song before the final takes place.
The final will be broadcasted on Reshet 13. The final will include two parts. As their first song, all four finalists will sing a cover and one of the finalists will be eliminated. Only on the second round the remaining three artists will perform their potential Eurovision entries. The results will be determined by the audience (50% of the vote), the judges (25% of the vote) and the professional committee (25% of the vote).
Israel is using The X Factor as their national selection for the first time. One of the judges of the show is Israel’s latest Eurovision winner Netta. Previously they chose their representative through the singing competition HaKokhav HaBa. Israel has qualified to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest every year since 2015.
