Avicii Arena and Friends Arena will be the home of Melodifestivalen 2022.
It has been announced that the first three heats of this year’s competition will be held at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm. The final three shows, including the grand final, will take place at the Friends Arena.
Melodifestivalen returns to its old home
The Avicii Arena is no stranger to Melodifestivalen, having last hosted the final of the competition ten years ago, when the venue was known as the Stockholm Globe Arena. It’s last time holding the show was a significant one, as it saw Loreen storm to victory with Euphoria, the song that would go on to bring the Eurovision Song Contest back to the country.
With the exception of last year, the Friends Arena has hosted every final since 2013.
The dates for this year’s shows are as follows
5th February – Heat 1 (Avicii Arena)
12th February – Heat 2 (Avicii Arena)
19th February – Heat 3 (Avicii Arena)
26th February – Heat 4 (Friends Arena)
5th March – Semi-final (Friends Arena)
12th March – Final (Friends Arena)
The first live show of Melodifestivalen 2022 takes place tonight from the Avicii Arena, with first seven artists competing for the two places in the final and the two places in the semi-final.
